Colombo, Sri Lanka – Former Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment, Manusha Nanayakkara, has strongly denied allegations that he was involved in any fraudulent activities related to foreign employment schemes. In a letter addressed to the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment, Vijitha Herath, Nanayakkara clarified that he had never taken money from anyone for foreign employment.
Nanayakkara expressed his concerns that the accusations leveled against him were causing significant harm to both his political and personal life. He stated that such persistent allegations were unfounded and damaging to his reputation. The former minister called for a proper investigation if any individual or party was found to be involved in taking money under false pretenses to secure foreign employment opportunities, emphasizing that the law should be enforced without bias, regardless of the person’s rank or status.
In his letter, Nanayakkara urged Minister Herath to ensure that any cases of fraud be thoroughly investigated, and those responsible should face the full extent of the law. He further stressed that the foreign employment opportunities provided under government loan schemes were meant to help people, and any misuse of these services was a serious offense that needed to be addressed.
Nanayakkara’s letter comes amid increasing scrutiny over the country’s foreign employment programs, and his response aims to clear his name from ongoing allegations.
