In a significant development for Sri Lanka’s judiciary, four new Supreme Court Justices—Sobhitha Rajakaruna, Menaka Wijesundara, Sampath B. Abeykoon, and M.S.K.B Wijeratne—were sworn in before President Anura Kumara Dissanayake today (12).
These esteemed individuals were previously judges of the Court of Appeal and have now ascended to the highest court in the country, reinforcing the judicial system’s capacity to address the nation’s legal challenges.
Their appointments come at a pivotal time, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and ensuring the rule of law is upheld. This move is expected to contribute significantly to the delivery of justice and the maintenance of public confidence in Sri Lanka’s legal system.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Presidential Secretariat, attended by senior government officials and members of the judiciary.
