Colombo, Feb 5 – The Colombo High Court has issued a notice summoning Member of Parliament Namal Rajapaksa to appear before the court on February 18 in connection with a financial misconduct case.
The Attorney General has filed indictments against Rajapaksa, alleging that he received Rs. 70 million from the Indian company Krish, purportedly for the promotion of rugby, but subsequently misused the funds.
The case is expected to attract significant public and political attention as Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, faces legal scrutiny over financial irregularities. Further legal proceedings will determine the course of action regarding the allegations.
