Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated that while the government fails to listen to the people’s concerns, his office remains open to hear and address public grievances. He made these remarks while speaking at a public meeting in Avissawella.
Premadasa emphasized that Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is implementing a program to support individuals facing injustice, political retaliation, and economic hardship, as a response to state policies that he claims are neglecting the people.
He criticized the government, saying that farmers are unable to sell their paddy while basic necessities like coconuts, rice, and salt remain unaffordable for ordinary citizens. He questioned how a government that struggles to secure essential food supplies can expect to improve people’s livelihoods.
Premadasa also reminded the public that when the current administration was in opposition, they promised a guaranteed price of Rs. 150 per kilogram of paddy but now avoid facing farmers due to their failure to fulfill that promise.
He reiterated that while the government has no time to listen to the people, his Opposition Leader’s Office remains open to address their issues and provide a voice for those in need.
