A journalist close to the President and the government has revealed that the opposition is preparing to question President Anura Dissanayake’s marital status in Parliament.
In a post on his social media account, the journalist stated that since the President is elected by the people, the public has the right to know about his personal life, including his marriage. He also suggested that the public should be informed about the marital status of the Prime Minister as well.
The discussion over the President’s marriage has gained momentum on social media in recent days, following remarks made by Opposition MP Rohana Bandara, who raised several questions regarding the matter.
Since taking office as President, and even before that, Anura Dissanayake’s wife has remained out of the public eye, fueling speculation and curiosity. As the topic gains political traction, it remains to be seen whether the opposition will formally raise the issue in Parliament or if it will remain a matter of public speculation.
