Deputy Minister of Public Security Sunil Watagala has stated that an investigation should be conducted into the double murder that occurred in Middeniya.
He further claimed that individuals who previously worked for the Rajapaksa family but later became discontented have revealed information regarding the case.
Watagala emphasized that the murders warrant a reopening of the investigation to uncover the truth behind them.
He also stressed the importance of identifying those responsible for these killings, highlighting that the assassination of witnesses has become a recurring issue.
According to him, the elimination of witnesses in politically linked murders has posed a serious challenge for the Attorney General, leading to disappearance of evidence in several notable cases, including those of Lasantha Wickramatunga, Wasim Thajudeen, and Prageeth Eknaligoda.
Speaking in Parliament, he firmly reiterated that these murders are directly connected to the Rajapaksa family and should be thoroughly investigated.
