The Principal Grade Officers Association has warned that if the government fails to fulfill its promises made in the current budget, principals from across the country will converge in Colombo to protest before the third reading of the budget is completed.
Speaking at a media briefing, General Secretary Nimal Mudunkotuwa emphasized that the salary disparity affecting teachers and principals for the past 27 years remains unresolved. He stated that rather than addressing this long-standing issue, the current budget has further widened the gap.
He urged the government to increase the principal allowance, resolve all salary-related issues, and provide additional benefits, including a telephone allowance. He further announced that, based on these demands, the Executive Council has decided to summon all graded principals to Colombo for a protest before the budget process is finalized.
