Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Namal Karunaratne, has stated that fuel queues and sudden power outages are minor incidents and should not be considered national issues.
Responding to a media inquiry following a recent event, Karunaratne dismissed concerns that Sri Lanka was experiencing a return to an era of long queues.
“It’s really like this—sometimes, small things happen. Suddenly, electricity goes out, communication is disrupted, and other minor incidents occur. But just because these things happen, they do not turn into national issues. There is no reason for such concerns to escalate,” he said.
The Deputy Minister further claimed that these temporary disruptions are normal occurrences and should not be blown out of proportion. “That sudden current flows—that’s how it happens,” he added.
