Refuting claims by fuel distributors that fuel stocks at filling stations will only last until tomorrow morning, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Chairman D.J. Rajakaruna stated that 1,581 orders have been received islandwide today and that fuel distribution will continue as usual, even though today is a Sunday.
Speaking to the media, he assured that the orders placed today are intended for tomorrow’s supply and that there is no reason for a fuel shortage as claimed by the distributors.
The chairman further stated that the country has sufficient fuel stocks to last for three weeks and that additional orders have already been placed until August.
“For there to be a fuel shortage in the country, fuel stocks must run out, or there must be issues with fuel orders and deliveries. However, there is no such problem at present. We have enough fuel stocks for three weeks, and orders have been placed until the end of August,” he said.
