The Federation of Doctors’ Trade Unions for Medical and Civil Rights has revealed that the Drug Regulatory Authority has yet to take action to blacklist the company that imported the controversial Prednisolone eye drops, which have caused blindness in numerous patients across the country.
Despite multiple requests from the federation to blacklist companies that import substandard and overpriced drugs, the alliance alleges that current health administrators are shielding corrupt former officials and pharmaceutical companies.
These concerns were recently confirmed during a COPE Committee meeting, where it was revealed that the health system remains poorly managed under the current administrators of the Ministry of Health and the Medicines Regulatory Authority, according to the chairman of the federation, Specialist Dr. Chamal Sanjeewa.
