Sarvajana Balaya MP Dilith Jayaweera stated in Parliament that he takes pride in seeing the secular Prime Minister wearing a white osari, carrying a turban, and bowing with respect.
Speaking during the debate on the expenditure head of the Ministry of Culture and Religious Affairs, he strongly criticized the proposal of a “rainbow nation” put forward by the Minister of Culture. Jayaweera argued that Sri Lanka does not need a rainbow nation but rather a nation rooted in Sri Lankan civilization.
He emphasized that preserving the country’s cultural heritage should be a priority over adopting foreign ideological concepts.
