
The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on several individuals accused of human rights violations during the war in Sri Lanka.
Those sanctioned include former Army Commander Shavendra Silva, former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda, former Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya, Karuna Amman, and Pillayan (alias Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan).
The sanctions include travel bans to the United Kingdom, restrictions on accumulating assets in the country, and prohibitions against holding assets in their names within the UK.
