Investors are being warned after a fake trading application was found using the Colombo Stock Exchange logo to mislead the public.
The Colombo Stock Exchange has issued a strong warning urging investors not to trade through unauthorised mobile applications, after discovering that the BoMate App has fraudulently used the official CSE logo.
According to the CSE, several complaints have been received from investors who were misled into believing that the BoMate App was an official Colombo Stock Exchange trading platform. The misuse of branding created the false impression of legitimacy and regulatory approval.
The CSE clarified that the BoMate App is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Colombo Stock Exchange in any manner. Authorities stressed that trading through unverified digital platforms exposes investors to serious financial risk and potential fraud.
“For your safety, do not trade through unauthorised applications. Protect your investments, verify before you invest,” the CSE said.
Investors are advised to rely only on approved trading platforms and verify sources before making investment decisions.
