Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, known for his hardline stance and diplomatic ties with Sri Lanka, is reported dead after a joint Israeli-American strike hit his private residence in northeastern Tehran.
Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has reportedly been killed in a joint Israeli-American military strike targeting his private residence in the Narmak district of northeastern Tehran. The Iranian Workers’ News Agency stated that the attack resulted in his death along with several close advisers and members of his security detail.
Ahmadinejad, who served as Iran’s president from 2005 to 2013, was a central figure in Middle East geopolitics, particularly during escalating tensions over Iran’s nuclear programme. Reports indicate that his bodyguards, believed to be members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, were among those killed in the strike.
Known for his hardline rhetoric and controversial international positions, Ahmadinejad maintained close diplomatic relations with Sri Lanka during his presidency. His reported death marks another dramatic escalation in the widening regional conflict.
