Kapila Chandrasena was found dead at his Kollupitiya home a day after court issued an arrest warrant over unsuitable sureties.
Kapila Chandrasena was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his residence in Kollupitiya, police said, just one day after an arrest warrant was issued against the former SriLankan Airlines Chief Executive Officer.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodharagama had issued the arrest warrant after allegations were raised that the sureties Chandrasena had presented to court were unsuitable.
The Bribery or Corruption Investigation Commission had earlier requested court to cancel the bail granted to Chandrasena and remand him until the conclusion of the trial.
The Commission alleged that Chandrasena had breached the trust of court by presenting two unsuitable sureties.
Police said an investigation has now been launched into the mysterious death of the former SriLankan Airlines chief.
