Eppawala school stabbing shocks parents after five Grade 12 students were injured in a sharp weapon attack inside a government school.
Eppawala school stabbing fears spread after five students were injured when another student allegedly attacked them with a sharp weapon at a government main school in Eppawala town, Sri Lanka Latest News reports.
The five injured students have been admitted to the Eppawala District Hospital.
All five injured students are Grade 12 students studying in the Advanced Level Technology stream at a leading school in Eppawala town.
Police said the stabbing had been carried out by a Grade 12 Science stream student from the same school.
According to reports, a clash had taken place a few days earlier between the student accused of carrying out the stabbing and one of the injured students. In retaliation, another confrontation escalated this morning (13), leading to the sharp weapon attack.
Reports further state that after one student was first attacked, four other students who tried to intervene were also injured.
Eppawala Police have arrested the student who allegedly brought the sharp weapon into the school premises and injured all five students. The weapon used in the incident has also been taken into police custody.
Hospital sources confirmed that the condition of the injured students is not serious.
Eppawala Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
