Minister’s daughter is studying for a PhD in England and staying at a Tamil diaspora leader’s residence, Chamara Sampath claims.
Minister’s daughter studying in England for a PhD is reportedly staying at the residence of a prominent Tamil diaspora leader, MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake claimed.
Speaking in Parliament today, May 19, Dassanayake said the daughter of a current Cabinet minister representing the Southern Province had travelled to England for higher studies.
He claimed that she is now residing at the home of a well-known member of the Tamil diaspora.
Addressing Parliament, the MP said he would not reveal the name of the student or the minister at this stage.
He said the reason for withholding the names was that the person concerned is a child engaged in education, and her future should be considered.
However, Dassanayake emphasized that close attention must be paid to the conduct of individuals holding high political office in the country.
He said such matters raise questions that require public and political scrutiny, especially when senior figures in government are involved.
