Policy-driven leadership is urgently needed in Sri Lanka, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith says, condemning political lies and double standards.
Policy-driven leadership has become an urgent national need, Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith said, expressing deep disappointment with Sri Lanka’s current political culture.
The Cardinal made these remarks while attending a special celebration held to mark the 125th anniversary of Pitipana Maha Vidyalaya in Negombo.
Speaking at the event, Cardinal Ranjith said he feels deeply disheartened by the conduct of the present political world.
He said some politicians change colours like chameleons, shifting their views whenever it suits them.
The Archbishop said politicians often say one thing today and do the exact opposite tomorrow.
He said he is bitterly disappointed with leaders who follow such double-faced policies.
Cardinal Ranjith further stated that Sri Lanka’s politics has been damaged by figures who lie, sling mud, and pollute society.
He concluded by stressing that the country urgently needs just, principled, policy-driven leadership that can recognize wrong as wrong.
