Mihin Lanka recruitment faces new scrutiny as Wimal Weerawansa calls for a probe into claims involving President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s son.
Mihin Lanka recruitment has returned to the political spotlight after former Minister Wimal Weerawansa called for an immediate investigation into President Anura Kumara Dissanayake’s son.
Weerawansa said authorities should examine whether the President’s son joined “Mihin Lanka” airlines through proper examination procedures when the President was in the Opposition.
Addressing a media briefing, he said the President, who speaks about corruption and fraud involving others, must also explain appointments involving his own family members to the country.
Weerawansa also recalled the allegations the President had previously made against Namal Rajapaksa and others.
Mihin Lanka Recruitment Questions Raised
“Back then, Anura Dissanayake said these were appointments given to Namal Rajapaksa’s list. So how did his son get into Mihin Air? Was there an exam for that? Was his skill assessed? Doesn’t the Bribery Commission see these things?” he questioned.
Weerawansa said that when the Good Governance government closed down Mihin Lanka, many qualified employees lost their jobs. However, he claimed only a select few, including the President’s son, moved into SriLankan Airlines.
“When more qualified individuals were given compensation and sent home, how did the President’s son alone get a ‘special chance’ to join SriLankan?” he asked.
The former Minister also alleged that the current government has begun a crackdown against opposition politicians while claiming that “the law is equal for all.”
Weerawansa further said this process is a drama staged by the government to hide its own failures.
