Caitlin Clark has avoided an automatic one-game suspension after the WNBA rescinded a controversial technical foul given to the Indiana Fever star during Saturday’s 90-86 win over the Chicago Sky.
The incident occurred late in the third quarter when Clark went out of bounds following contact involving Chicago’s Natasha Cloud. Clark then made contact with an official and received what was initially recorded as her eighth technical foul of the 2026 season.
Under WNBA rules, an eighth technical foul triggers an automatic one-game suspension without pay. That would have ruled Clark out of Indiana’s upcoming game against the New York Liberty.
However, the league reviewed the incident and later rescinded the technical foul. Clark’s season total therefore returned to seven, allowing her to remain eligible for the Liberty clash.
Indiana coach Stephanie White strongly disputed the original decision, while Clark maintained that the contact with the official was not intentional.
Despite the controversy, Clark delivered another strong performance. She finished with 26 points and 11 assists, while Kelsey Mitchell scored a game-high 27 points.
The victory improved Indiana’s record to 20-12 as the Fever continue their push near the top of the WNBA standings.
