Sri Lankan Pavilion Hotel Asia 2026 opens in Hulhumalé, promoting exporters and strengthening Sri Lanka-Maldives business ties.
HULHUMALÉ, Maldives – The Sri Lankan Pavilion at Hotel Asia 2026 was officially opened with the participation of Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the Maldives, Mohamed Rizvi Hassan, highlighting continued efforts to strengthen trade and business ties between the two countries.
High Commissioner Hassan joined Sanjeewa, President of the Sri Lanka-Maldives Business Council, in cutting the ceremonial ribbon to mark the opening of the pavilion. Immediate Past President Sudesh Mendis was also present at the event.
The Sri Lankan Pavilion serves as a dedicated exhibition space where participating Sri Lankan companies can collectively showcase their products and services under a Sri Lankan presence at Hotel Asia 2026. It gives exporters an opportunity to meet Maldivian buyers, hotel and resort representatives, procurement teams and other hospitality-sector decision-makers in one location.
Sri Lanka’s presence at Hotel Asia 2026 provides local businesses with an opportunity to showcase their products and services directly to Maldivian buyers, hospitality industry representatives and international visitors attending the exhibition.
Participation in the event also forms part of continuing efforts by the Sri Lanka-Maldives Business Council to create opportunities for Sri Lankan exporters and improve access to the Maldivian market.
Through facilitating business contacts, promoting Sri Lankan brands and encouraging direct engagement between exporters and prospective buyers, the Council is seeking to help participating businesses identify new commercial opportunities and expand their export reach.
The Maldives remains an important regional market for Sri Lankan products, particularly those serving the hospitality and tourism sectors.
Its substantial hotel and resort industry creates opportunities for suppliers across a range of sectors, giving Sri Lankan exporters the potential to build new relationships with businesses operating in the country.
Initiatives such as the Sri Lankan Pavilion offer companies direct exposure to prospective buyers while creating a platform for discussions that could develop into longer-term commercial partnerships.
The Hotel Asia participation also underscores the role of business-to-business engagement in expanding Sri Lanka’s export presence in neighbouring markets, with the Pavilion providing Sri Lankan companies an opportunity to strengthen existing relationships and explore new avenues for growth in the Maldives.
