Gayathri Illanperuma the Personal Assistant to Janaka Ratnayake the former Chairman Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal alleging that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has up until now failed to conduct an investigation into her complaint made of being threatened by Ratnayake, her former lover.
The petitioner Gayathri Illanperuma, stated that she had fled to Singapore after the former Chairman (PUCSL) Janaka Ratnayake had threatened to release intimate videos of the duo that were in his possession. She had stated Ratnayake had threatened to release them to third parties.
Incidentally, Ratnayake was famously known for not vacating his seat after the current Ranil Wickremesinghe led government had requested him to do so after coming into power. He was eventually ousted after a motion was filed in parliament to have him ousted.
This petition was fixed for November 15 and the progress of the investigation is scheduled to be submitted to Court on that date.
Counsel Hafeel Farisz along with Shannon Thilkerathne and Rajith Samarasinghe appeared for the Petitioner whilst the Deputy Solicitor General Shani Kularathne appeared for the Attorney General.
