Sri Lanka to Lift Ban on Returning War Refugees from India All necessary processes to launch Starlink services in Sri Lanka have been completed The government has now completed all the necessary processes for the launch of Starlink services in Sri Lanka, said Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne. The Deputy Minister said that operations will be able to begin without delay after receiving the dashboard from Starlink. The Deputy Minister said this while participating in a bilateral meeting organized by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore on the sidelines of the 2025 Asia Technology Summit held in Singapore. Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne and Ambassador Stephen Lang, Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy at the US Department of State, participated in the meeting. Several other strategic areas were discussed, including continued support for Sri Lanka’s digital transformation with leading global technology companies such as Google and Meta, establishment of data centers in the country, integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across various sectors including the development of AI-based data centers, development of the Cyber ​​Security Act and strengthening the Cyber ​​Security Agency, amendments to the existing Online Security Act, and amendments to the Data Protection Act. Speaking at the event, Mr. Stefan Lang said that the United States will continue to support Sri Lanka in implementing these transformative digital policies and programs. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Senarath Dissanayake, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Singapore, Mr. Ahmed Razi, Head of Chancery of the Sri Lankan High Commission, and Mr. Sumudu Ratnayake, Advisor to the Ministry of Digital Economy.
