(COLOMBO) – A Sri Lankan man wanted by courts set his pet dog on the police officers that had arrived at his home to arrest him and in the ensuing melee he had managed to escape, local media reported on Wednesday.
They said the courts had issued several warrants on the man in related to criminal cases but he had kept dodging courts for a considerable time.
When a group of police officers had arrived after dusk at his home he had let loose his pet dog on the officers before fleeing after biting the hand of an officer who attempted to handcuff him.
The police had later arrested two relatives of the suspect while a hunt had been launched for the fugitive, police said.
The incident took place in the central town of Mawanella situated some 96 kilometers from the commercial capital of Colombo.
