Colombo, Sri Lanka – The People’s Struggle Alliance has called on the government to take steps to revoke the civic rights of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, citing findings from the Batalanda Commission report.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, the alliance’s national organizer, Duminda Nagamuwa, stated that this process can only be initiated by tabling the Batalanda Commission report in Parliament and implementing its recommendations.
Wickremesinghe, in a recent discussion with foreign media, claimed that the Batalanda Commission report has never been tabled in Parliament. He asserted that it is now the responsibility of the current government to do so.
Nagamuwa challenged the JVP-led administration, saying he is eager to see whether the government will take action and fulfill this task, given its parliamentary majority.
