The National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) has launched a new initiative to sell grass to cattle farmers at a subsidized rate, aimed at supporting the country’s cattle husbandry industry.
Under this program, a kilogram of grass is sold to farmers for just fifteen rupees. The grass species being offered at this rate is Sogam, which has gained significant demand among cattle farmers due to its suitability for livestock feeding.
According to the board, the production cost of Sogam grass is approximately eleven rupees per kilogram, and it is currently being cultivated across several farms managed by the NLDB.
Additionally, the board has introduced another grass species known as Pavon, which is available to farmers at the reduced price of thirteen rupees per kilogram.
This initiative aims to provide affordable resources to cattle farmers, thereby supporting livestock production and contributing to the country’s agricultural sector.
