Strolling through the facility, President Dissanayake paused to speak with disabled soldiers undergoing residential care, many of whom were left permanently maimed in the bloody civil war. The President listened attentively, exchanged kind words, and spent time admiring their artwork and creative expressions silent testaments to both suffering and resilience.
Reflecting on the tragedy that engulfed both North and South, where tens of thousands lost lives and limbs, President Dissanayake delivered a solemn promise: “I will never let such things happen again.” His words echoed a powerful vow to break the cycle of violence and ensure that future generations are never again asked to pay such a horrific price.
