SriLankan Airlines has expanded its fleet with the arrival of a new Airbus A330-200, the first wide-body aircraft to join the national carrier in over seven years. The aircraft, which arrived from Paris, marked its debut with a ceremonial low fly-past over Colombo and Katunayake before landing at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
This addition brings SriLankan’s operational fleet to 23 aircraft, reinforcing its plans to enhance service capacity across its network. The airline also announced that at least two more aircraft are expected to join the fleet by the end of the year.
The newly acquired A330-200 is outfitted with modern passenger amenities, including wireless in-flight entertainment and USB charging ports at every seat. It is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines and configured with 18 Business Class and 242 Economy Class seats.
SriLankan Airlines plans to deploy the aircraft on long-haul routes as well as select short-haul destinations, aligning with its broader strategy to improve connectivity and passenger comfort across key markets.
