Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) leader Mano Ganesan has accused the National People’s Power (NPP) of securing the chairmanship of the Haldummulla Pradeshiya Sabha with the support of two TPA members who defied party directives.
Ganesan expressed strong disapproval over what he described as a betrayal of party principles and warned that disciplinary action would be taken against the defectors. “Our party cannot be bought. Those who traded integrity for personal gain should resign immediately,” he declared, adding that legal steps would also be pursued.
He further urged the public to reject political bribery and to support clean politics rooted in accountability and transparency.
Addressing the situation in the Colombo Municipal Council, Ganesan noted that the NPP does not hold a majority there. He emphasized the importance of building power through alliances and respecting the democratic framework, calling for collaboration among parties rather than backroom deals.
