Sampath Bank denies social media claims that officers at its Kandy Dalada Veediya branch were remanded over a Rs. 51 million loan case.
Sampath Bank has denied social media reports claiming that officers attached to its Kandy, Dalada Veediya branch have been remanded.
Issuing a special statement, the bank said the news circulating on social media regarding the branch and its officers is completely false.
The bank confirmed that no Sampath Bank officer has been remanded, contrary to the claims spreading online.
According to the statement, the false reports appeared on social media based on a complaint regarding a loan facility of approximately Rs. 51 million obtained by a customer.
The bank said legal proceedings connected to the incident are already underway.
It added that the bank and its officers are providing full cooperation to the relevant investigating authorities.
Since the matter is currently before court, Sampath Bank said it is unable to comment further.
However, the bank strongly denied all misleading statements and allegations made against the institution and its officers.
The statement also requested customers to remain cautious about false information spreading on social media.
