Dasun Shanaka takes four wickets in four balls as Seattle Orcas beat Texas Super Kings by nine runs in an MLC 2026 thriller.
POMONA, California — Dasun Shanaka produced a stunning final-over spell as the Seattle Orcas defeated the Texas Super Kings by nine runs in Major League Cricket 2026.
Defending only 121 runs at the Knight Riders Cricket Field, Seattle looked under pressure when Texas dragged the chase into the final over. But Shanaka turned the match completely around, taking four wickets in four deliveries to seal one of the most remarkable finishes of the season.
Seattle had earlier struggled after Texas sent them in to bat. The Orcas lost wickets regularly and never found real momentum on a difficult surface. Cameron Gannon’s 20 from 21 balls proved crucial in the lower order, while Ali Sheikh added 18 and Shanaka contributed 16 as Seattle reached 121/9 in 20 overs.

Texas appeared to have done enough with the ball, especially through Adam Milne and Amshi de Silva. Milne took 2/10, while de Silva claimed 3/15 to keep Seattle under pressure. However, the chase quickly became uncomfortable as Seattle’s seamers made the most of variable bounce and kept squeezing the run rate.
Ottneil Baartman was outstanding with the new ball and finished with superb figures of 3/9 from four overs. He removed key top-order batters and kept Texas behind the required rate. Marcus Stoinis and Jasdeep Singh also struck important blows as Texas slipped into trouble during the middle overs.
Shubham Ranjane tried to anchor the innings with an unbeaten 40 from 44 balls, while Donovan Ferreira’s 22 from 16 balls gave Texas hope late in the chase. With 15 needed from the final over, Texas still had a chance.
Orcas seal famous win
But Dasun Shanaka delivered under pressure. After conceding a boundary from the first ball, he dismissed Ferreira, Calvin Savage, Adam Milne and Amshi de Silva in consecutive deliveries. That incredible burst completed a four-wicket final over and handed Seattle a famous victory.
The win lifted the Orcas into a stronger position in the standings, while Texas suffered another damaging defeat in their campaign. For Seattle, it was a victory built on discipline, fight and one unforgettable final over from Dasun Shanaka.
