ISSO London restaurant has opened in Canary Wharf, marking a major international step for Sri Lankan restaurant brand ISSO Group.
According to a report by Asian Mirror, ISSO Group has launched its first overseas corporate outlet, ISSO – Prawn Crazy, at 25 Cabot Square in London’s financial district. The 90-seat restaurant represents the company’s first expansion outside Sri Lanka and its first direct move into a Western market under its own corporate structure.
To meet heavy lunch and dinner demand, the outlet uses kitchen automation technology, including robotic wok systems. The company says the systems support faster service while helping maintain consistency during peak hours.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Apinash Sivagumaaran said the launch aims to create a scalable model for future international growth. He also said ISSO wants to promote Sri Lankan cuisine and locally sourced ingredients in global markets.
The menu focuses on export-grade, wild-caught Sri Lankan prawns from coastal communities in Jaffna and Mannar, supplied through a partnership with Alpex Marine. The prawns are individually quick-frozen within hours of harvest to protect quality before export.
Head Chef Karan Kashyap, who previously worked at several well-known London restaurants, including Michelin-recognized Veeraswamy, created the opening menu. The ISSO London restaurant also serves imported Sri Lankan beverages, including Lion Beer and Lion Stout, along with wines and spirits.
ISSO Group said the ISSO London restaurant will form the base for future expansion across the United Kingdom and continental Europe.
