Defending champion Jannik Sinner delivered a dominant Centre Court display as Sinner vs Djokovic ended in straight sets, sending the Italian into another Wimbledon men’s singles final.
LONDON, England: Jannik Sinner ended Novak Djokovic’s latest bid for a record 25th Grand Slam singles title with a ruthless 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory in Friday’s Wimbledon semi-final.
The world No. 1 produced one of his most complete performances of the tournament. He overpowered the seven-time Wimbledon champion in two hours and 20 minutes on Centre Court.
Sinner controlled the match through the quality of his serve, the depth of his groundstrokes and his ability to absorb changes of pace.
The Italian struck 16 aces and went almost the entire contest without facing a break point. Whenever Djokovic threatened to apply pressure, Sinner answered with an accurate first serve or an aggressive baseline combination.
Sinner vs Djokovic Becomes a One-Sided Contest
Djokovic entered the semi-final after surviving a physically demanding five-set quarter-final. At 39, the Serbian hoped to become the oldest man in the Open Era to win the Wimbledon singles championship.
He was also chasing an extension to his all-time Grand Slam record.
However, Djokovic struggled to match Sinner’s speed and sustained intensity.
The defending champion earned the decisive break in the opening set and protected it with composed serving. Djokovic remained competitive and kept searching for an opening.
However, Sinner denied him the chance to establish his trademark rhythm on return.
The same pattern continued in the second set.
Sinner took the ball early and repeatedly drove powerful shots into the corners. As a result, Djokovic often had to defend from uncomfortable positions.
Sinner’s improved serve also denied the Serbian the return opportunities that shaped many of his greatest Wimbledon victories.
Djokovic tried to shorten points and move forward more often in the third set. Sinner remained calm and responded with passing shots, deep returns and controlled aggression.
A final break gave the Italian command of the match. Soon afterwards, the latest Sinner vs Djokovic encounter ended with another straight-sets Wimbledon victory for the Italian.
Redemption After Australian Open Defeat
The result delivered redemption for Sinner after his five-set loss to Djokovic in the 2026 Australian Open semi-finals.
It also strengthened the Italian’s growing control of one of modern tennis’s most important rivalries.
Djokovic acknowledged after the match that Sinner had played at a higher level. Questions about his future will likely continue.
Still, the Serbian indicated that he hopes to return to Wimbledon.
His latest campaign remained a significant achievement. Djokovic reached the final four at 39 despite several physically punishing matches and opponents from a much younger generation.
Meanwhile, Sinner advances to his seventh Grand Slam final. He will now attempt to win the fifth major championship of his career.
He will face French Open champion Alexander Zverev in Sunday’s final. Zverev defeated British wildcard Arthur Fery 7-6 (7-0), 6-2, 6-4 in Friday’s opening semi-final.
Sinner enters the Wimbledon men’s singles final as the defending champion and top seed.
After surviving difficult moments earlier in the fortnight, the Italian has rediscovered his most destructive tennis at the ideal time.
