ICC Sri Lanka Cricket officials have been ordered to hold immediate elections, with representatives barred from ICC Board meetings until then.
The ICC Sri Lanka Cricket leadership has been instructed to conduct immediate elections after the International Cricket Council formally directed Sri Lanka Cricket to establish a democratically elected administration.
The directive was issued during the ICC Annual Conference held in Edinburgh, Scotland, and the governing body has already sent its official communication to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
According to the notification, the ICC has instructed SLC to hold an election without delay to appoint a new governing board through a democratic process.
The ICC has also made it clear that until the election is completed and a properly elected administration assumes office, representatives of Sri Lanka Cricket will not be allowed to participate in ICC Board meetings.
The decision effectively suspends Sri Lanka’s representation in the ICC’s top decision-making forums until the election process is concluded and the new administration is formally established.
The directive represents a significant development for Sri Lanka Cricket’s governance, placing immediate emphasis on restoring an elected leadership structure before the country’s officials can once again take part in discussions and decisions at ICC Board level.
