The Valikamam North land protest entered its fifth week as residents demanded the return of properties held by the military for 36 years.
Residents of Valikamam North continued their protest for the fifth consecutive week on Sunday at the Palaly Junction, demanding the release of their lands currently under military occupation.
The protesters, who say they have been deprived of their properties for the past 36 years, called on the Government to return their lands from military control.
They alleged that the military has been using the occupied lands for agricultural activities and commercial establishments to meet its own needs, while the original landowners have been left without their homes and lands for decades.
