Pakistan ended a three-year wait for an overseas Test victory after defeating the West Indies by eight wickets at Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain.
Pakistan beat the West Indies by eight wickets in Port of Spain, ending an eight-match overseas losing streak and recording their first away Test victory since beating Sri Lanka in July 2023.
The key player was Abdullah Shafique. He scored an unbeaten 160 in Pakistan’s first innings, helping them make 387 after the West Indies had scored 344. That gave Pakistan a 43-run lead.
Pakistan’s spinners then took control. Sajid Khan and newcomer Ali Usman helped dismiss the West Indies for only 117 in their second innings. Pakistan needed just 75 runs to win and finished on 77 for two, with captain Babar Azam sealing the match by hitting two consecutive sixes.
The victory levelled the two-match series 1–1 after the West Indies had won the opening Test by 90 runs. Shafique was named Player of the Match, while Pakistan also moved above the West Indies in the World Test Championship standings.
