SunRisers Leeds Women reached The Hundred final after surviving a late Southern Brave fightback to win their Eliminator by five wickets at The Oval.
Chasing 115, SunRisers finished on 116 for five after 89 balls, sealing victory with 11 deliveries remaining. The result extended their winning streak to five matches and booked a place in Sunday’s women’s final against Trent Rockets at Lord’s.
Southern Brave had earlier posted 114 for seven from their 100 balls after SunRisers won the toss and chose to bowl. Lizelle Lee top-scored with 32 from 25 balls, while Charli Knott made 25 from 21. Captain Sophie Molineux finished unbeaten on 22.
Hannah Baker Leads SunRisers Leeds Women Into Control
Hannah Baker delivered the standout bowling performance for SunRisers Leeds. The leg-spinner claimed two wickets for only 13 runs from her 20 balls and produced 11 dot balls during an excellent spell.
Baker removed both Lee and Knott, two of Brave’s key contributors, and later earned the Match Hero award. Annabel Sutherland also took two wickets as SunRisers kept Southern Brave from building a larger total.
However, SunRisers made a difficult start to the chase. Bryony Smith and Phoebe Litchfield fell cheaply, leaving their side struggling at 13 for two.
Lauren Winfield-Hill then steadied the innings with 37 from 37 balls. Sutherland supported her with a useful 17 from 12 deliveries as SunRisers rebuilt and moved closer to the target.
Deepti Sharma then took responsibility for guiding the chase, but Southern Brave still had one final response.
Wong Sparks Late Southern Brave Scare
Issy Wong dismissed Winfield-Hill and captain Danielle Gibson with consecutive deliveries, suddenly reducing SunRisers to 95 for five. The double strike gave Southern Brave hope of turning the Eliminator around.
Yet Deepti remained composed under pressure. She finished unbeaten on 28 from 22 balls, while Jess Jonassen struck 10 not out from only five deliveries. Together, they guided SunRisers to 116 for five and secured the victory with 11 balls to spare.
Wong ended with impressive figures of three for 21 from her 20 balls, but her late burst could not prevent Southern Brave’s elimination.
For SunRisers Leeds, the result carries a wider significance. They have now won five consecutive matches, turning strong late-season form into a place in the final.
That momentum will now be tested against Trent Rockets on Sunday, with SunRisers Leeds one victory away from winning The Hundred title after their impressive five-match surge.
