A Sri Lankan policeman was arrested some two months after he allegedly broke into a neighbour’s home and stole property and cash valued at some Rs, one million, police said on Wednesday.
They said the suspect cop was arrested after a near two month search for the thief after his fingerprints matched with those found at the scene of the crime.
The incident took place in the southern town of Ihala Kosgama on April 27 and the suspect policeman was a serving constable at the Avissawella police station.
Suspicions were blown towards the constable after he was reportedly found loitering around the victim’s house on that particular day, according to police.
