September 9, 2024 – An investigation has been launched following allegations that a Police Sergeant from the Katugastota Police Station threatened several officers to vote for Malima during postal voting. The incident has raised serious concerns about potential breaches of election laws.
The complaint was lodged with both the Election Commissioner and the Senior Deputy Inspector General (Elections) by Advocate Thilina Fernando, the Chief of Operations for the Samagi Jana Balawega.
