President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that Rohitha Bogollagama, Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, has been recalled following allegations from an employee working at his official residence. The President disclosed this at an election rally in Nuwara Eliya, stating that these accusations harm Sri Lanka’s reputation abroad.
Reports suggest that British authorities investigated a complaint regarding alleged mistreatment of an employee in Bogollagama’s residence. The President emphasized that his administration does not condone such incidents and has initiated a review of several other political appointments to foreign missions.
Additionally, the President mentioned that other staff members in overseas Sri Lankan missions, many of whom are related to politicians, are also being recalled as part of a broader effort to depoliticize diplomatic roles.
