A Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus met with a major accident in the Kadugannawa area, injuring 21 passengers. The incident occurred when the bus, traveling from Colombo to Kandy, collided with a roadside tree due to a malfunction in its braking system.
Eyewitnesses reported that the driver lost control while attempting to navigate a sharp curve, leading to the collision. Emergency services promptly arrived at the scene, and the injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The bus, operated by the Teldeniya depot, sustained significant damage in the accident. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the brake failure and assess the bus’s maintenance history.
