Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka – A suspect accused of sexually assaulting a female doctor at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital has been arrested by Galnewa Police.
The arrest was made after authorities tracked the stolen mobile phone belonging to the victim. The suspect, identified as Nilanka Madhuranga Ratnayake, also known as “Bunty,” is a resident of D 03, Elapara, Galnewa. He is reportedly an army deserter.
Shockingly, the suspect had been released from remand custody just a day before the incident. He was previously detained in connection with a drug-related case.
Authorities have taken the suspect in for questioning, and he is scheduled to be produced before the court. The case has sparked public concern over security measures and the rehabilitation of individuals released from prison.
