Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa is prepared to join forces with progressive members of the National People’s Power to form a new government, as political cracks widen over the SupremeSat controversy.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa is ready to form a new government with progressive factions within the National People’s Power (NPP), according to Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) MP Sujith Sanjaya Perera.
Speaking to the media, Perera said the political fallout from the SupremeSat controversy has exposed deep divisions within the NPP-led government. He claimed that if circumstances demand, Premadasa is prepared to work with progressive MPs from the ruling coalition to establish a new administration.
Perera further suggested that Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Wasantha Samarasinghe’s actions may be aimed at undermining Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, painting her as an ineffective leader.
The SupremeSat satellite issue has sparked a wider political debate, with rival factions within the government exchanging accusations and questioning each other’s competence, fuelling speculation about potential realignments in Parliament.
