A late-night police raid in Seeduwa has uncovered an alleged prostitution operation disguised as a massage centre, leading to multiple arrests and renewed scrutiny over illegal vice activities in the area.
Police arrested one suspect and seven women during a raid on an alleged brothel that had been operating under the cover of a massage centre in Seeduwa on the night of April 5.
The raid was conducted by officers from Seeduwa Police, who said the premises in Seeduwa town had been functioning as a massage centre while allegedly offering prostitution services behind the front.
The manager of the establishment, a 46-year-old man from Batapola, was taken into custody along with seven women aged between 22 and 39 who were allegedly involved in prostitution-related activities.
Police said the arrested women are residents of Kandana, Gampaha, Ginigathhena, Matale, Kurunegala, Badulla, and Nawalapitiya.
Seeduwa Police are continuing further investigations into the incident.
