A devastating mass shooting in Shreveport leaves eight children dead, shaking an entire community as authorities investigate one of the most tragic incidents in the city’s history.
Eight children, ranging in age from one to 14 years, have been killed in a mass shooting in Shreveport, Louisiana, in what police have described as a domestic disturbance.
Authorities said the incident began around 05:00 local time. A single gunman opened fire, shooting a total of 10 people before fleeing the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police later pursued the suspect and fatally shot him following a chase.
Shreveport Mayor Tom Arceneaux described the situation as deeply painful for the entire community. He said families, law enforcement officers, and emergency personnel are all affected by the tragedy, adding that the city is united in mourning with those who have lost loved ones.
Police have not yet released the identities of either the suspect or the victims, noting that some of the children were believed to be related to the deceased gunman.

“All of the deceased in this case are juveniles,” Bordelon confirmed, emphasizing the devastating nature of the incident.
Authorities determined that the shooting was domestic in nature. Police also reported that one of the individuals who had been shot managed to escape to a nearby home before emergency services arrived.
Following the attack, the suspect allegedly carjacked a vehicle and attempted to flee the area.
Police officers pursued the suspect into another neighbourhood, where they opened fire, resulting in the death of the gunman.
Officials have withheld further details about those involved as they work to notify family members of the victims.
Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy, stating that it is difficult to comprehend how such an event could take place.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry also responded, saying he and his wife are heartbroken by the incident and are praying for everyone affected.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, who represents the district where the shooting occurred, described the event as a heartbreaking tragedy and said that the victims, their families, and the Shreveport community are in his thoughts and prayers.
