Tilvin Silva denies assault rumours, calling social media claims about injuries and hospitalisation false political mudslinging.
Tilvin Silva assault rumours circulating on social media have been strongly rejected by the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Secretary General, who says the claims are completely false.
Silva denied reports alleging that he had been assaulted at the party office in Pelawatte, suffered injuries, and was later hospitalised.
He said the false propaganda campaign against him had been launched by politically bankrupt groups after the National People’s Power held what he described as a historic May Day rally across 21 districts, setting a world record.
Silva described the claims as “a lowly act of mudslinging resorted to due to political bankruptcy and imbecility.”
He also said journalists and social media handlers have a responsibility to at least make a phone call and verify such information before publishing reports of this nature.
Silva added that political groups spreading false information without critical thinking would ultimately be rejected by the people.
The JVP Secretary General further stated that he is in very good health.
He said those creating such false stories are posting their night-time dreams as morning posts, and insisted that ridiculous mudslinging propaganda cannot defeat the mandate of his movement.
