Dilith Jayaweera has been summoned to the Securities and Exchange Commission today (12) to record a statement over alleged financial irregularities linked to the Colombo Stock Exchange.
The Sarvajana Balaya leader and Member of Parliament is expected to provide a statement regarding transactions that allegedly took place during the period from 2010 to 2015.
The main focus of the investigation is on suspected fraudulent activity within the stock exchange during the rule of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
A statement is scheduled to be recorded from the MP today as investigators examine the relevant transactions and the circumstances surrounding them.
It is also reported that several prominent businessmen, including Nimal Perera, Rayynor Silva, Ashok Pathirage, and Tharanga Thoradeniya, have been summoned in the coming days in connection with the same investigation.
These summonses have been issued as part of a wider probe into alleged transparency violations and breaches of financial regulations within the Colombo Stock Exchange.
