The Harini binoculars arrest case has led to three people being remanded after they allegedly watched Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya near a Colombo hotel.
The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today (21) ordered the suspects to remain in custody until tomorrow (22). Police allege that they used binoculars while the Prime Minister was arriving at a leading hotel in the capital.
Kompanna Veediya Police arrested the three individuals and produced them before Colombo Magistrate Prasanna Alwis.
The Magistrate directed police to submit a full report on the incident when the case returns to court tomorrow.
Two of the arrested suspects are brothers. Police said the three are residents of Kinniya and Mollipatana.
The suspects told investigators that they work in the Colombo area. Kompanna Veediya Police are continuing inquiries into the Harini binoculars arrest and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
