Player of the Match: Tim Seifert
Manchester Super Giants moved closer to securing a place in The Hundred men’s Eliminator after producing a dominant 10-wicket victory over SunRisers Leeds at Emirates Old Trafford.
Tim Seifert was the star of the show, smashing an unbeaten 80 from just 40 balls as Manchester chased down a target of 128 without losing a wicket.
Paul Walter provided excellent support with an unbeaten 44, helping the Super Giants race to 128-0 with 33 balls remaining.
The emphatic victory strengthened Manchester’s position in the standings and left them firmly in contention for the knockout stage.
Seifert dominates SunRisers bowling
Seifert attacked from the start and quickly placed the SunRisers bowlers under pressure.
The New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter struck five fours and seven sixes during a powerful innings that effectively ended the contest well before the chase reached its closing stages.
Walter was equally composed at the opposite end, ensuring Manchester never gave SunRisers an opportunity to fight their way back into the match.
The pair remained unbeaten throughout the chase, delivering one of the most commanding batting performances of the competition.
Manchester’s victory also had implications elsewhere in the tournament, with Trent Rockets securing their place in Sunday’s final.
SunRisers, meanwhile, remain involved in the battle for the remaining Eliminator position, with MI London still capable of affecting the final standings.
Atkinson strikes as SunRisers struggle
Earlier, SunRisers Leeds were restricted to 127 after failing to build a major partnership.
Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 32, while Zak Crawley added 31, but Manchester consistently picked up wickets to prevent the visitors from accelerating.
England fast bowler Gus Atkinson led the attack with 3-30, putting Manchester in control before Seifert and Walter completed the job with the bat.
SunRisers never managed to establish the momentum required to post a competitive total, and their score quickly looked below par once Manchester began their chase.
The Super Giants now head into the closing stages of the group phase with significant momentum and their Eliminator hopes firmly in their own hands.
