Police arrest two suspects after a 29-year-old man was allegedly killed and his body burned in a forested area.
COLOMBO – The Thalathuoya murder investigation has led police to arrest two suspects accused of killing their 29-year-old friend after drinking together and burning his body in a forested area.
Police identified the victim as P. M. G. Santha Sanjaya Bandara, a resident of Baulana within the Thalathuoya Police division.
According to Thalathuoya Police, the victim’s younger brother had filed a complaint reporting him missing. Officers then began searching for Bandara.
Thalathuoya Murder Uncovered During Questioning
During the search, police received information that a body had been found in a forested area. Officers recovered the remains and continued their investigation.
Police later identified two individuals believed to have been among the last people associated with the victim. Investigators questioned the pair extensively after taking them into custody.
Police said the questioning uncovered details alleging that the suspects killed Bandara after consuming alcohol together, transported his body to a forest, burned it and left the charred remains there.
Thalathuoya Police are continuing to question the two suspects as investigators work to establish the exact motive behind the killing.
